God is truely in control!

From the beginning of this pregnancy through his birth, God has shown us how truly he is in control. Blake is our miracle baby for sure! We found out we were pregnant while in an emergency room in Tennessee when we were supposed to be on vacation. The doctors told us that the pregnancy was ectopic and they would need to do emergency surgery. The doctors told us that if for some reason they were wrong and the pregnancy was not ectopic that the baby would be okay. I felt very concerned and requested that they call my ob and ask his opinion. My doctor advised that we sign out against medical advice and come home to be monitored. God was truly protecting me and Blake that day! After being monitored by my doctor they informed me that the pregnancy was not ectopic and if we had gone through with the surgery I would have lost the baby for sure! God was in control that day!!

About twelve weeks later we had an ultrasound to find out the gender of our baby. During the ultrasound they found a cyst on Blake's brain. We were informed that this could be related to a severe form of mental retardation in which children usually do not live past the age of one. We had some blood work done and saw a specialist two weeks later. When we saw the specialist they were pleased to inform us that the cyst had dissolved, the blood work came back good, and Blake passed the majority of physical tests they needed to rule out the disease! God once again was in control!!

DELIVERY DAY....January 4, 2010....after four weeks of dilating Blake finally decided to make his grand arrival, and it was grand for sure! At about 12:30am I woke with what I thought may be a contraction. I woke John at 1am after having three contractions. John then helped me time a few more and we decided it was time to call my parents at 1:30am. Soon after John called the on call nurse to let them know what was going on. The informed us to call back when the contractions where less than 5 minutes apart. They told John this should take at least another hour....about five minutes later (now about 2:00am) the contractions were extremely intense and coming every 2 to 3 minutes! John called the nurse back and was unable to get the nurse on the line. At this point John and I decided it was time to head to the hospital. Unfortunately since it was 2am we had no one to keep Jacob, so along he came for the ride! Because the contractions were so strong and coming so quickly I had a very hard time getting myself dressed and out the door. By the time we got loaded and everyone in the car it was about 2:25am. While driving to the hospital labor was proving to progress very quickly and John started driving faster. We pulled up behind a police office who we flashed our lights at and pulled up beside. We informed him I was in labor and he sent us ahead and informed an officer in front of us we were on the way. God once again proved he was in control, had we not seen the officer we may not have made it to the hospital! With a police escort in front and behind we were able to drive faster and go through red lights. When we arrived at the hospital at 2:40am one of the officers ran in the ER and got a nurse and wheel chair the other office parked our car. With John and Jacob running behind the nurse raced the wheel chair into an exam room. They lifted me on the bed and the ER doctor pleaded for me not to push and told the nurses they needed to get me upstairs to the maternity floor fast. Once again (like you would see in a movie) there we went, nurses surrounding my bed and running up the hall yelling for others to get the elevator. We arrived upstairs and nurses yelled for dad to hurry and get in the room so he did not miss delivery. Running close behind Jacob and John entered the room to see Blake's head already visable. On the emergency room bed with out an ounce of pain medication and only nurses to deliver at 2:53am with only five pushes Blake arrived! Blake was born with beautiful blond hair and blue eyes, 7 lbs 13 ounces and 21 inches long! We could have not asked for more of a perfect baby boy!
